GE’EZ

Ge'ez script is an ancient script used in modern-day Eritrea and Ethiopia that dates back to the 1st century CE.

Ge'ez is the “parent language” to Tigre, Tigrinya and Amharic. Tigre is an Eritrean language, Tigrinya is a language shared between Eritrea and Ethiopia, and Amharic is the state language of Ethiopia.

ትግረ - Tigre

ትግሪኛ - Tigrinya

አማርኛ - Amharic

Geʿez and its related languages are written from left to right, unlike other Semitic languages such as Arabic and Hebrew.
